The Inevitable Comeback: A V-8 Charger

Dodge

Dodge looks ready to admit what enthusiasts never stopped believing: the Charger needs a V-8. A V-8 Charger — potentially including the Hellcat — could return by 2027, marking a quiet reversal after Dodge’s EV-first push. It’s less a nostalgic move and more a response to what buyers actually want.

The Charger Daytona EV and inline-six Sixpack may be quick, but they miss the point. The Charger’s identity has always been about sound and presence — something only a Hemi delivers. With V-8 production restarting and the new platform proving it can handle big power, Dodge has a clear opening to own the muscle sedan space again.

If a 700+ horsepower Hellcat Charger does return, it won’t just revive a nameplate — it’ll remind everyone why Dodge still matters in the performance conversation.
