Driving the conversation: News, trends, and events for car enthusiasts
Welcome
If Formula One’s Monaco Grand Prix or the 109th Indy 500 wasn’t enough to get your racing jollies off this weekend, then be sure to check out the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile race—featuring all six of the iconic hot dog cars.
Dubbed the “Wienie 500,” this was the first time in a decade that all six promotional vehicles were together in the same place. Each one represented a different regional dog: the Chi Dog (Midwest), New York Dog (East), Slaw Dog (Southeast), Chili Dog (South), Seattle Dog (Northwest), and Sonoran Dog (Southwest).
Are you hungry now? Did it work?

One Big, Beautiful Buzzkill for EVs

Ford Motor Co
Congress just dropped a legislative double-whammy on EV policy. One bill aims to revoke California’s EPA waiver that lets the state ban new gas-powered car sales by 2035. If passed into law, it would block California—and any state following its lead—from enforcing stricter emissions rules than the federal standard.
Meanwhile, the “One Big, Beautiful Bill” goes after federal EV tax credits, proposing to eliminate them entirely. It also introduces a new fee structure: $250 per year for EVs and $100 for hybrids, claiming these drivers aren’t paying their share in gas taxes.
Critics say the proposed fees are excessive—comparable to what hypercar owners pay in fuel taxes annually—and could slow EV adoption across the U.S. Proponents argue it's about fairness at the pump.
California and a coalition of states are already preparing to challenge the EPA waiver rollback in court.
