Driving the conversation: News, trends, and events for car enthusiasts

Welcome

We're less than a week away from the Super Bowl, and if you're thinking about getting your 30 seconds of fame while Kansas City goes for a 3-peat, it’s gonna cost you 8 million buckeroos - that’s 1 million more than last year.

We’d probably spend our marketing budget on something shiny that goes vroom (with a logo on the side to appease the tax lady). Or maybe sponsor Ford in one of their many upcoming adventures.

Ford’s Racing Revival: Back to F1 and Le Mans

Ford

After years away from top-tier racing, Ford is making a return—this time with a two-pronged approach.

In 2026, Ford will officially rejoin Formula 1, partnering with Red Bull Powertrains to develop a new hybrid engine. The move marks Ford’s first F1 involvement since 2004 and aligns with the sport’s shift toward more sustainable technology. With Red Bull dominating in recent seasons, the partnership could make Ford an immediate player in the championship battle.

Meanwhile, Ford is also plotting a return to Le Mans. In 2027, they’ll enter the 24-hour endurance race with a new Hypercar, a nod to their historic GT40 victories in the 1960s. While details on the car remain sparse, the move signals Ford’s intent to compete at the highest levels of global motorsport once again.

Interestingly, Ford is opting out of current Le Mans, IMSA, and WEC prototype racing. Instead, they’re focusing on F1 development and preparing for their Hypercar debut. It’s a long-term strategy, prioritizing a strong return over immediate competition.

Between their F1 investment and endurance racing ambitions, Ford is positioning itself for a major motorsport resurgence. Whether their return leads to dominance or just a foot back in the door remains to be seen, but one thing is clear—Ford is back in the race.

Trump Tariffs Threaten Car Prices and Production Shifts

Anna Moneymaker | Getty Images

President Trump’s 25% tariff on car imports from Canada and Mexico is about to shake things up in the auto world. Starting soon, automakers will face higher costs, and you might see it at the dealership.

General Motors is already shifting production to U.S. plants to dodge the tariff, while brands like Audi are weighing similar moves.

Bottom line? Car prices could climb, and wait times might get longer. Looks like buying a car might have gotten a bit more complicated.
