Driving the conversation: News, trends, and events for car enthusiasts

Welcome

We’re officially two weeks into the new year — so be honest, how are those resolutions going? If history tells us anything, the gym is about to get a little less crowded.

Here’s what is in store this week:

  • A F1 driver in an old car

  • A chance to be James Bond

  • A lineup of this weekend’s events

The Corvette Does it Again…

Chevrolet

Chevy just dropped insane straight-line numbers on the new 2026 Corvette ZR1X — and they’re hypercar-level. On a VERY prepped drag strip, the hybrid super-Vette blasted to 60 mph in just 1.68 seconds and backed it up with a quarter-mile time of 8.675 seconds at 159 mph — all with pump gas and street-legal Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. That’s seriously quick for a production car and puts the ZR1X in the conversation with multi-million-dollar hypercars while costing a fraction of the price.

Chevy also provided real-world numbers: on an unprepped surface with the optional ZTK Performance Package, the car still managed 1.89 s to 60 and 8.99 s in the quarter — showing it’s not just one perfect run.

Powered by a 1,250-hp hybrid powertrain that blends a twin-turbo V-8 with electric all-wheel drive, the ZR1X isn’t just about straight-line blasts — it’s Chevrolet’s boldest performance statement yet.
