Spoiler Alert: Slippery First Round of the Formula 1 Season

The 2025 Formula 1 season kicked off with a dramatic Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park. Lando Norris secured his first win of the year for McLaren, beating Max Verstappen and George Russell to the podium in a race filled with unpredictable weather, safety cars, and intense strategy calls.

Norris led from pole, but rain and multiple safety car periods kept things unpredictable. A late downpour saw Verstappen briefly take the lead, but a delayed switch to intermediate tires cost him, allowing Norris to regain control and seal the victory.

The race saw six DNFs, including rookie Isack Hadjar, who crashed before the race even started. Lewis Hamilton finished tenth in his Ferrari debut after a challenging day. Meanwhile, Kimi Antonelli’s five-second penalty was reversed after Mercedes successfully challenged the ruling, keeping him in the points.

With this win, Norris leads the championship, giving McLaren a perfect start to the season.
